Week Twelve (November 8-11)

On Monday, I worked the Nursing Simulation Lab from 8:30-11am. After the simulation wrapped up, Dr. Trotta asked if she could contact me even when I am no longer an Ambassador because apparently she particularly enjoys me working it! I told her absolutely and that I would do this for a career if I could because I truly enjoy it! Around lunchtime, I went to Muntz 345 and worked on a research paper for my sociology class. After that, I worked at the Dry Cleaners 3-7pm.

On Tuesday, I worked Student Life from 8-9, went to class 9:30-10:50am, and then utilized one of our amazing study rooms in the Library and worked on lesson plans and homework. For the next few weeks, I have given my Welcome Desk shifts to Ambassadors who need the hours more than me. This week, Jamie covered. Next week, Jamie will cover the first half and Shadi will cover the second. After I finished studying, I worked Student Life from 2-4pm, and closed out my day with tutoring 5-6pm.

On Wednesday, I attended my student teaching placement from 6:45am-2pm. In the evening, I worked at the Dry Cleaners (3-7).

Since Thursday was Veteran's day, I rested. I got my third COVID vaccination (since I am immunocompromised) and then had a therapy appointment at 5pm.  I have been extremely cautious this entire pandemic: so much so that I have lost friends and have been called crazy. Having a baby in my home and being immunocompromised, I have to be radically safe. Honestly, I have been struggling with anxiety related to COVID more than usual recently. Getting another layer of protection and going to therapy combined should help me a lot in the upcoming weeks.

On Friday, my car had to get new tires and unfortunately, I was not feeling well after my third shot. Still though, I pushed through and attended my student teaching, only for a half-day though due to my sickness. In the evening, I babysat (the kids were already asleep. Essentially, I just sit there and make sure nothing crazy happens) for my Mentor teacher (the teacher that hosted me the first time I student taught: 2019-20, 8th grade Spanish 1) so she and her husband could go on a super fancy date to the Precinct. Luckily, I tested negative for COVID so I was still able to go over, but since I was sickly, I wore my mask and I was not around the kids at all! We must ALL continue to take precautions like this even as we get tired of COVID. I know it is exhausting, but we all need to continue putting in the work to be careful in hopes that one day it will calm down.
